Serge Belamant the brain behind Blockchain Technology

Serge Christian Pierre Belamant is the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates of South Africa (RSA) after he developed the first blockchain technology and held the patent behind the technology. Blockchain is a significance software application aimed at revolutionizing global financial sector. Serge Belamant is credited for being the first person to implement blockchain technology. The technology enabled creation of various cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Belamant achieved the innovation of his technology after using a micro-controller from the smart card which can create a distributed independent ledge transaction.

The blockchain technology enables private individuals, governments, and banks to transact very faster in a variety of financial activities such as payments, deposits and withdrawals within a secured environment. Blockchain technology is defined as a ledge or list of records linked together with cryptography. The ledges have a cryptographic transaction data and timestamp. Typically, blockchain technology was designed to increase the accuracy of data, transparency and security of financial institutions and their customers.

Belamant was born in 1953 in Tulle town, France. At age 14 his family relocated to South Africa. He joined Highland North High School in Johannesburg and took part various activities such as rugby, and other athletics. Serge Belamant excelled at his school work and also held leadership positions in the school. He later joined Witwatersrand University to study engineering but later switch course to computer science. Unfortunately, Belamant failed to complete his university study after transferring to UNISA (University of South Africa). He joined workforce aged 22 years and started working at Matrix a civil engineering company.

Serge worked on element analysis software on Cyber computers and IBM computers. He later designs application that analyzes water levels in the dams around the country. The application identifies the optimal water levels and helps to prevent or predict future droughts. Belamant continued designing intricate computer models at CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research).

His computer skills were exceptional that led to breakthroughs in enhancing road network analysis, digital mapping, statistical methods and creating graphic interfaces. In 1980 and 1982 Serge Belamant was named analyst of the year. Serge Belamant founded Net1 Technologies which created several technologies such as COPAC and the blockchain technology. Serge Belamant is currently the CEO and chairman of Net1 technologies.
